“ The service was excellent, the portion sizes are definitely above average, the food quality was premium, and it's a comfortable little place that's very casual. I highly recommend! ”
“ We were a family of 4 driving from New York City to Montreal and after some quick google search, I knew I had to stop by at this family run restaurant near the Canadian border for fresh seafood. There was a deal for 2 lobsters for 32 which without thinking twice, we opted for it. Despite our inexperience in deshelling lobsters, the staff here were more than happy to guide us as to the deshelling process. The lobsters were extremely fresh and served steamed with butter. The fish & chips included fresh cut potatoes with fresh crispy battered fish and fresh tartare sauce. As for the dessert, the crowning glory was the peanut cake that our server recommended to us. Yes, it may not necessarily be a dessert place but the peanut cake was extremely amazing that even though I am not a person with sweet tooth, I loved it. It’s a pity that I am not a frequent traveller across this border area, otherwise I know I would be a regular at Mainely Lobster & Seafood. Nevertheless, I do look forward to my next trip here and as for anyone travelling between New York and Quebec, this place should be included as the meal stop. ”
“ Amazing place. The staff were simply incredible. They were friendly, professional (very professional), knowledgeable, and, well, amazing. The atmosphere, great, exactly what you would expect a fish joint to look like that's been around for 34 years, and very clean. The food. Simply amazing as well. Starter, we shared a bowl of fish chowder, so fresh, the fish so tender, we loved it. Mains,I had the whole belly clam with fries and coleslaw. Tasted great, so fresh, you would think you were in Portland, fries, homemade and it tastes it. Coleslaw, I prefer creamy, this was not, and, no surprise, I liked it. Wife had the. Seafood casserole and fried and coleslaw. If she could 10 out of 5 on the casserole, she would. Creamy, fresh, delicious, the shrimp and scallops tender to perfection, the haddock just right. So yes, highly recommend the place. ”
“ My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time today. We were beyond impressed! The restaurant is very clean, bathrooms are very clean, and restaurant is tastefully decorated in a cozy comfortable seafood environment. Our waitress Melanie was terrific! We joked about the sign posted near our table, “Beware of the Attack Waitress”. Melanie was authentically friendly, kind, and very professionally attentive to serving us. We loved our food and went home with leftovers! Haddock, Scallops, and Baked Potatoes were cooked perfectly! We each got an order of broccoli and shared some tuna macaroni salad. We will be repeat customers for sure! This meal and quality service made our day!!! You will not be disappointed and we can clearly see why this restaurant has been in business over 30 years! THANK YOU! ”
“ This place is so good! They go to Maine twice a week to get the seafood fresh. The amount of seafood in each dish is surprising. It's definitely worth the price. It's reasonable as well. It is bring your own beer too. ”
“ A cute little diner style restaurant tucked away in a small shopping area. Would not have guessed the food was going to be yummy, but Surprise, surprise ! Such fabulous service and the food were delicious. Our amazing waitress, whose name I can not recall was super kind when we told her our My sister in law has celiac disease. Her cheery attitude and accommodating demeanor made our evening ! I had the scallops, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and, of course, a twin lobster . It did not disappoint. One additional note .. the food was not overly salty, which is an A in my book! I definitely recommend if you are in the area.. ”
“ This is a real find (If you're not put off by the kitschy signs and postings all over the place, charming in their own way. Who can't relate to, for example, "A penny for your thoughts seems a little pricey?") Anyway, this is a true old-school gem of a place. The waitstaff seem to all be older women who you know are just getting by, and are sweet and attentive and unobtrusive and good at their job. It tends to bring older white people and families as customers - though that's likely a reflection of Plattsburgh's demographics. And the food? Spectacular, classic, fresh and excellent value for the price! I'll confess I've only had two items every time I go there, though their menu is extensive. Because why stray from perfection, which is their seafood chowder and crab cakes? The chowder (there's also traditional clam and others too) is absolutely stuffed with tender fish, shrimp, scallops, and lobster in a delicious and not heavy milk/cream based broth. It's always superb. And the deep-fried crab cakes are so tender with a beautiful dark brown domed crust surrounding them, I always end up ordering another! Comes with several side sauce options (and very good fries if you want the platter), but they are so good by themselves I only occasionally use any for variety. As most all the other reviews agree, you will not be disappointed here. Welcoming, hearty food in a friendly low-key atmosphere at a good price - what's not to love? ”
“ I've been going to Mainely Lobster for 30 years! The original owners were as amazing as the owner now. They have a truck that goes to Maine 2 times a week to get the freshest seafood that they can. We ordered ahead for a large amount of Lobster once, asking for (6) 1.5 lb lobsters and when we got home each Lobster had to have each been 3lbs yet we paid the other price for them. Excellent food, everytime I go. Highly recommend! ”
